Swim Team

Swimming was the main reason The Hills opened its doors in the summer of 1962.
Pacific Masters Record Holder Al Kallunki brought team swimming to The Hills through the 1960’s and 1970’s.  His dedication to the learn-to-swim program gave The Hills a solid reputation of producing talented swimmers.

Today, The Hills Swim Team is still competitive as they compete against
the top swimmers in one of the nation’s top leagues, “Pacific Swimming”. The Hills Swimmers are associated with the Oakland Barracuda Aquatics team, swimming as a satellite team at large meets.  This unique alliance offers The Hills swim team members the opportunity to be a part of the United States Swimming Organization and swim at USSO-sanctioned meets throughout the year.  The Year-round swimmers practice up to five days a week and participate in 1 – 2 swim meets a month.  Swimmers are 6 years old & up and must master 50yd freestyle with side breathing, 25yd backstroke, 30 seconds of treading in deep water, and streamline 5ft off the wall.
